Product Description

To remedy a diaper rash, pediatricians recommend to air-out your child's bum and to keep it dry. Lil Helper's Charcoal Cloth Diaper is ideal for use during a diaper rash and preventing further breakouts.

The Mayo Clinic says that: “diaper rash is commonly linked to continuously wet or infrequently changed diapers, diarrhea, and using plastic pants to cover diapers.” All of these issues surrounding irritant diaper dermatitis (IDD) or diaper rash can be prevented by using our Charcoal Cloth Diaper. Here's how:

  •  Keep Your Baby Feeling Dry: The charcoal inserts can hold more than 180 ml of liquid and the great part is that your child still feel's dry. Keeping your child’s skin dry is the best way to remedy diaper rashes- charcoal's wicking ability let’s you do just that.

  •  Let’s You Air-Out Your Baby: Most pediatricians suggest that it is best to let your baby go commando or without a diaper. This is highly impractical. The breatheable and waterproof PUL cover will let your baby’s skin breath while providing protection.

  • Rash Creams Not Necessary: Rash prevention creams are supposed to create a water-barrier to keep your baby’s skin dry. But before application if your child is not thoroughly dry you could worsen the rash by trapping moisture on your child’s bum. You do not need any rash cream while using our charcoal cloth diapers. Our natural materials will keep your baby dry and well ventilated.

  • No Ammonia Smell: The charcoal present in our cloth diaper neutralizes most of the ammonia in your baby’s urine. You will no longer smell the strong odour of ammonia coming out of your baby’s diaper the next time you change them. Ammonia also worsens a child’s diaper rash- thankfully the charcoal takes care of this miscreant as well.

  • Soothing: The hypoallergenic and anti-bacterial qualities of charcoal are best suited to soothe your baby's nasty diaper rash.

You’ll love our diapers even more once you read this:

  • Our diaper grows with your baby. Each diaper will perfectly fit your baby from birth until the day she is potty trained. Fits baby from 7-35 lbs. These are called One-Size (OS) cloth diapers

  • Leaks be gone. The outer shell is made of waterproof PUL, making it completely WATERPROOF.

  • Soak oil spills. The eight layers of cloth in the inner liners combine forces to put even your kitchen mop to shame.

  • Naturally Plush. Only pesticide free charcoal cloth touches your baby’s skin. Think marshmallows. The micro fiber is sandwiched inside the soft embrace of the charcoal cloth.

  • Great Value. All our cloth diapers include two detachable inner inserts (one small & one big) along with a waterproof shell.

  • Squirmy babies? Both inner inserts attach to the diaper cover with snaps. Your kid can wriggle as much as it wants. Our inserts won’t budge.

  • Did you know? Charcoal is Hypoallergenic, Naturally deodorizing & Anti-bacterial. Most importantly, the dark color doesn’t show stains.

  • Baby Do Good. You are directly helping us promote the cause of cloth diapering by giving 1 brand new cloth diaper to a family in need for every 3 diapers you purchase.

  • Easy To Use: Lil helper cloth diapers come closest to replicating the convenience of disposables without the overwhelming feelings of guilt, shame and financial recklessness.

  1. Excellent night diaper

Posted by Courtney on 4th Feb 2014

I purchased this diaper after my sister recommended I take a look at the website. I ordered 4 to get free shipping (great deal!). The package came with a free cloth wipe, some diaper liners and a personal thank you note. Fabulous!
The diaper is a bit bulky and so it quite large under clothing. I have a skinny baby, so he has quite the bum while wearing it!
He does have VERY sensitive skin (which is why we started cloth diapering when he was a few weeks old). Sometimes when he has a terrible BM he can get little sores. Thankfully these sores clear up quickly with cloth diapers and perhaps a bit of diaper cream (love the liners in the package), BUT just wearing this charcoal bamboo diaper for a few hours, the sores are GONE! So, I have made these diapers our go to for nighttime. Best of all he is a big pee-er and these don't leak (I prepped them 4 times) and they stay dry on the inside! LOVE THAT!
We have also used them when he does have some runny poo and for long car trips where we might not get to a change every 2 hours.
For those reasons, I love this diaper. Of course, I like a less-bulky diaper for every day wear, but these are awesome!
If your baby has sensitive skin or goes all night in one diaper, I highly recommend Lil Helpers Charcoal Bamboo!

  2. Good diaper, a few flaws

Posted by Unknown on 2nd Jan 2014

Diapers look great and are very absorbent. They wash well and dry quickly on the line. We've had a few leaks through the legs because our baby is on the skinnier side but I expect she will grow out of that.

The quality control on the diapers is a little off. On our liners the snaps are not aligned all that well so the second liner snaps on crooked which doesn't really affect anything just bugs us/looks terrible (wouldn't stop me from using them though). We didn't notice until after using it, but one of our diapers has a hole where the liner wasn't sewn properly to the outside cover.

All in all though a great diaper :)

  3. I now love cloth diapers!!! Never turning back :)

Posted by Unknown on 16th Nov 2013

I love how well this diaper actually works!!! I don't have to worry about my daughters diapers leaking anymore!! Everything stays inside!!! Very impressed!! I also LOVE that she'll poop on the diaper and NOTHING stains!!!! Such a great diaper!! These diapers made it so easy to switch to cloth diapers!!! I'm so upset when I run out!! Can't wait to order some more!!!

  4. Amazing

Posted by Allison on 29th Oct 2013

My 13 month old always seems to be just on the verge of a nasty rash. Never once have we been able to forgo diaper cream without bad results. So when I ordered this diaper I was definitely skeptical.

For once a product is exactly as advertised. I am able to put her in these without anything else on her bum and her skin stayed healthy. The inserts are well-sized allowing for multiple uses of the same cover (unlike some other AI2s which end up being single use only). By the end of the first day, all traces of rash had disappeared for the very first time in her life.

I expected the covers to be essentially just Alvas, but they are soft, trim and fit amazingly better.

I'm waiting until they get a few more washes before I put them to the toddler-who-nurses-all-night test but already they are the definite favorite in my household. If I could afford to completely rebuild my stash using these, I would.

  5. Hooked on cloth

Posted by Alix W on 28th Oct 2013

We weren't 100% sure cloth diapering was for us - infact, we tried a high end brand when our son was first born but they did not work out. We decided to give Lil Helpers a go because we liked the charcoal bamboo option, because they were a great price point that my son could wear for years and because they are a Canadian company. Both my husband and I are now hooked on cloth diapering and get a little fuddy-duddy when we have to use a disposable now!

  6. Will be ordering more after this review!

Posted by Carmi on 22nd Oct 2013

Love the colors (mint & mauve) fit and the fact that they absorb ammonia.
Great customer service, products were delivered by owner - tea and personalized card were a nice touch.
Diaper leaked at first...with awesome customer service, I found out I didn't prep them properly and problem solved with just another wash.

  7. Great Fit and Comfort!

Posted by Ashley Gallagher on 6th Sep 2013

This diaper is designed very well, the fit is great and the softness of the charcoal bamboo is fantastic! Unfortunently, my boy wets too much for nap or overnight wear in this diaper, but it is a wonderful addition to our daytime rotation!

  8. Perfect Diapers for perfect babies

Posted by Michael Sinclair on 5th Sep 2013

We bought these diapers after doing extensive research on the best way to do reusable diapers. Based on ease of use, durability, materials used, intuitive design (the dyson of diapers) and sheer comfort, these diapers are hands down the best. Not only is the product top of the line, the service we received was nothing I have ever experienced, these people listen to you and are really trying to get your business. If you are going to have a baby and want to do everything right, this is the place for you. Thank you Lil Helpers, our baby loves them.

  9. No diaper rash yet!

Posted by Kristine Laing on 7th Aug 2013

I chose the charcoal diaper as my babies get bad diaper rash. So far, they are working! The only diaper cream I've used is when we are traveling and using disposable diapers. The customer service has been outstanding. I wish I were having more children just so I could continue to use all the lilhelper products!

  10. Finally!

Posted by Shannon on 14th Jul 2013

With recent issues with leaking in my son's cloth diapers, I was more than impressed with this diaper. I have purchased a few, but out of the ones I purchased, this particular diaper seemed to fit my son the best (he's a bit husky, so that is sometimes difficult to find)without compromising his comfort. It soaked up so well, that I'm confident using it at night with the extra insert will solve our night diapering dilemma too. He's happy and I'm happy!
